Hi! My name is Catherine Ann. Several years ago I was diagnosed with Cancer. The first question people always ask me is “What type of Cancer did you have”? To tell you the truth, the Cancer was spread so far throughout my body, my doctor told me that he would have had trouble pinpointing the origin.
I didn’t really care. I just knew I was going to die.
The doctor estimated that I had less than six months to live.
Time seemed to standstill. I can still remember sitting in the doctor’s office, listening to the results of my tests. It didn’t seem real, as if he were talking to someone else. But the reality was that my doctor was reading off my death sentence.
We started discussing my options.
We talked about Chemo and / or radiation treatments. These scared me as much as the Cancer. I had several friends who had gone through these treatments and it often seemed like they were worse than the Cancer.
We also discussed surgery. As far as I could tell, the biggest problem with surgery was that the Cancer always seemed to come back. It seeded like the surgeon never quite got it all and within some time period it would start growing back.
I went home to pray and consider my options.
I called my best friend and poured my heart out. I told her I was scared of the Cancer and just as afraid of the treatments. If I only had a short time to live, I didn’t want to live it in a post-surgery or post-Chemo world.
