Some people can smoke their whole lives and never get cancer, some can smoke for 5 years and get cancer. Smoking itself does not cause cancer, it raises your risk of getting cancer. My grandfather smokes 4 packs a day, and has problems from smoking but no lung cancer, my aunt smoked 1 year and her lung collapsed. So again it all just depends on genetics, and other factors It depends. Some people can smoke their whole lives and never get cancer, some can smoke for 5 years and get cancer.
