My mother was recently diagnosed with small cell stage 4 lung cancer. She has had 2 radiation treatments & starts chemo tomorrow.
She is expected to come home in 4 days & I plan on staying with her & my dad to help out. I am wondering about what to expect in reguards to her behavior once home. Will she be sleepy, feeling sick, grumpy, bone idle…etc…?
A family member has stage 4 lung cancer. He went through radiation on the brain and chemotherapy. Recent scans show that the cancer has shrunk and remained stable. But, the patient has recently become very confused, thin, and weak. The doctors insist that all of his symptoms are caused by the cancer. But, we are not so convinced. He is on many medications, including several very strong pain meds. The doctors think this is the end, and that his body could shut down anytime now. are we in denial?
My Grandpa was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer (tumors in both lungs) but they haven’t given him any set time. Does anyone have any thought?
Yes, his doctor doesn’t believe in giving a ‘life expectancy’. Non-small cell lung cancer DOES have 4 stages. I have heard that, with the small amount of chemo he’s receiving once a month, a year is about right.
On Feb. 2, we learned that my husband of 43 years had Stage 4 lung cancer. There was no asking “Why me?” Richard knew very well why. He’d been a pack-a-day smoker for 50 years. Although he quit for good more than 15 years ago, it was far too late. After a few weeks of encroaching weakness and coughing, a PET scan showed that cancer was ravaging his body, taking up residence in both lungs (along with emphysema), in his spine, his adrenal glands and his brain. it was inoperable and incurable. He was looking at weeks or months of remaining life, maybe a year at most.
soon. over the course of the last month he has been told the cancer spread to his abdomen. He has been getting bloated – and they have been having to tap him for the last 2 weeks. Yesterday 4.3 litres of liquid. Do any doctors know how long do you est he has? Thanks
Erin

Key Pieces Of Stage 4 Lung Cancer
Non-small cell lung cancer is described in stages. The stage of the lung cancer diagnosis inform the doctor as well the patient how advanced the cancer is.
Stage 4 lung cancer is the most hard stage of non-small cell lung cancer. When a cancer has reached stage 4, it can indicate vital therapy is required and the prognosis for survival is a lot lower than it is at earlier stages of the lung cancer.
What is Stage 4 Lung Cancer Life Expectancy?
Perhaps the most common question I am questioned is “what is stage 4 lung cancer life expectancy?” Not unexpected, since 40% of people have already progressed to stage 4 lung cancer at the time they are diagnosed. Before answering the question though, it is vital to talk a small about how the answer – the statistical answer – is derived.
